THE 10! Show - November 8, 2011
How do you find a Professional Mortgage Originator?
Ask the following questions of that individual:
(1) Ask for "Letters of Recommendation" from previously closed clients within 60 days. This is what we do when we buy online from Amazon or other sites. We look at the reviews before we make that purchase. Years W2s or 1040s
(2) We think one of the most valuable things you can do is ask friends and family who they've used and why. Have those Loan Officers stayed in touch with you after the transaction? Is that important to you to get industry updates?
(3) Resume – is it important to you to know if this individual jumps from Lender to Lender? If you don't feel comfortable asking that question you can try this...
(4) If you're speaking with a Loan Officer working for a Banker we would ask for their NMLS #.
Go to www.nmlsconsumeraccess.org type in their name and it will tell you everything about the Loan Officer's work history.
(5) If that Originator works at a bank, call the bank and validate that person is a registered Loan Originator.
(6) Research the lender by going to a couple different websites:
Consumer Affairs - www.consumeraffairs.com
The Rip Off Report - www.ripoffreport.com
The Better Business Bureau - www.bbb.org
Type in the name of the Lender and see what pops up.
